This is one
of Cyprus’ quieter and more traditional
areas. Paphos has grown in recent years but has not entirely lost its
small town charm. The modern town is split in two sections, Kato Paphos
being the tourist area with its many cafes, bars and restaurants stretching
out along the seafront to the old fort, where you can eat, drink and
watch the boats and yachts as they come and go. Upper Paphos (Kitma)
contains the main commercial centre with shops and modern museums.
Paphos is steeped in history, a visit to the Tomb of the Kings a must. To the east of Paphos lies Coral Bay, with its many hotels, restaurants and bars it also has one of the finest stretches of sandy beach in Cyprus. Here water sports are in abundance for the more energetic! Overlooking Coral Bay is the town of Peiga, noted for its excellent, traditional taverns in and around the Square. They serve some of the best cuisine in Cyprus. In the hills around Paphos you will find many old world Greek villages including Droshia. It is 600m above sea level with stunning views over Polis Bay. For golfing enthusiasts there are two 18 hole courses just a 15 minute drive away, Secret Valley and Tsada providing the very highest standard of facilities in Cyprus. Paphos is without a doubt an excellent choice for all the family. |
